As we strive for excellence and perfection via taking in as much information and listening and learning from every train of thought, I must mention a handful of people who have really made the difference to the level of enjoyment we get from our dogs, and the knowledge we continue to build upon.
Rayma Ritzau of Awun Schnauzers and Kerry Dean of Bayvista Schnauzers, in addition to Veeni Craig of Ebshine Miniature Schnauzers, Kerry Dean & Rayma Ritzau started us out in the right direction, and
in spite of the tyranny of distance, continue to be great sources of advice and
encouragement.
Closer to home and on greater than a weekly basis, the support, time, effort and guidance from Marylene McLeoad-Woodhouse of Schonhardt Miniature Schnauzers, provided unconditionally at any time of day or night and often at a moments notice, is worth it’s weight in gold and continues to be greatly appreciated.
In addition to Marylene, there have been several others who like herself, have the breeds interests at heart by virtue of the fact that they have unconditionally approached and helped us new comers in many aspects of our beloved minis, including their grooming, exhibiting and general care.
Foremost amongst them, Ralph Richardson of Mirzac Miniature Schnauzers who’s practical pointers at ring side together with ‘hands on’ help in addition to his passion for the breed and foresight in passing on his theoretical and practical skills in grooming (skills in which we believe he is without peer in this country), have always made a difference.. When most times quite the opposite is encountered, it is extremely important to acknowledge Ralph’s willingness to demonstrate his skills and try to pass on that knowledge to other exhibitors purely for the general betterment of our breed.
We would also like to mention Brenda Asquith-Turnball and Julie Morris for their last minute ring side tips and continued encouragement. As we navigate the the Schnauzerzone.
As someone fresh to the breed my observations are that there is an enormous amount of quality knowledge and immense skill amongst the stalwarts who take pride and meticulous care in showing their dogs at their best, however, those same skills and knowledge must be shared amongst both experienced and inexperienced exhibitors of miniature schnauzers if we are
truly striving to work only in the best interests of the breed and not just in the best interests of the Alpha Dog (i.e. we exhibitors).
Clearly our very own NSW Schnauzer Club is the logical vehicle to drive the breed to new levels in perfection & popularity both in the show ring & for the pet enthusiasts.. I encourage everyone who is not a member of The NSW Schnauzer Club to ask themselves why? If the answer is one of self interest or relates to their opinion of a person or a group of persons, then think again and remind yourself: it's what you can do for the breed, not what you can do for yourself or what you wont do for somebody else. Go to the 'Links' page of this website, download a copy of a member application form from the NSW Schnauzer Club site and post it off just as quickly as you would your next show entry form. That way you can join others with a common interest in our breed and share your knowledge and experience and make a positive difference to the Club and to the breed.
The Club strives for the promotion and betterment of Miniature, Standard and Giant Schnauzers, and not for the promotion & betterment of human individuals or egos.
Enough said. Welcome to the Shnauzerzone!!!
